Statement of Support for Cambridge for Palestine’s Divestment Call
Boston Workers Circle for Jewish Culture and Social Justice is a signatory on Cambridge for Palestine’s call “to end all current city business and prohibit future city investments and contracts with companies, as long as such companies engage in business that sustains Israel’s apartheid, genocide, and illegal occupation of Palestine.” As one of Greater Boston’s oldest Jewish organizations, representing over 1,000 members, many of whom live, work, and vote in Cambridge, we see this ordinance as aligned with our pursuit of equal rights, safety, and liberation for Jews and Palestinians.
We wish to clarify our position after some past confusion. While BWC does not take a stance on the BDS Movement broadly (as referenced in our principles on Israel/Palestine), we do sometimes take a stance on specific divestment campaigns that align with our principles. For example, in July 2025 we joined the call for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to divest its pension funds from companies profiting off of war and genocide.
