Mishpokhe Learning Program

Hands-on Learning in the Time of Virtual Classes: A monthly project-based family program designed for Shule-niks, ages 4-7 years old, who thrive better with in-person programming versus online learning.

This program works for families with multiple kids and/or various learning styles to try multimodal projects. It can supplement a Shule student's class or provide connection to the Shule community while taking a break from online classes.

Families who participate will receive a monthly “recipe sheet” for a family arts-based activity, rooted in Jewish culture and social justice values. The project can be done at the convenience of the family. Families will have access to the program facilitator to ask questions and seek guidance, and a week to complete the project together.

Families will share their creations (through videos, photos, emails) with the other families in the program via monthly share-outs at the Mishpokhe Shabes, a 20-30 minute program. There will be opportunities to connect with each other after the Shabes ritual so families can continue to build community as our community stays physically-distanced.

In a time where communal gathering proves difficult and the injustices of the world are ever-present, this program is designed to make space for families to get in touch with the world around them, with their Jewish culture, and with each other
