Families for Justice as Healing (FJAH) deep dive
Join Kumzits to learn about the Hey solidarity protest partner this year, Families for Justice as Healing (FJAH). Our Hey class and the BWC’s AFREJ (Acting for Racial and Economic Justice) committee are partnering with FJAH which is led by incarcerated women, formerly incarcerated women, and women with incarcerated loved ones working to end the incarceration of women and girls. Come hear about their campaign to pass a bill that would create a 5-year pause (or moratorium) on jail and prison construction and expansion, without preventing essential repairs, to allow for a focus on reducing the number of people in prison, implementing alternatives, and investing in communities- aka reimagining communities. There will be a panel of BWC members connected to FJAH sharing stories about why this solidarity work is important for our community.
