Commemorating the Nakba/Israeli War Dead
Join Boston Workers Circle to watch the 19th annual Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day Ceremony, broadcast live from Israel/Palestine. As described by Combatants for Peace, “the joint memorial event is a unique opportunity for Israelis and Palestinians to grieve together and stand united in demanding an end to the bloodshed. In mourning together, we seek not to equate experiences, but rather transform despair into hope and build compassion around our shared humanity. We remind ourselves and the world that occupation, oppression, and conflict are not inevitable.”
We will watch this moving ceremony together on a large screen, followed by time to share our thoughts and feelings, especially in light of the ongoing tragedy in Gaza. The 1:15pm gathering time makes it perfect for a post Mother’s Day Brunch or pre-Mother’s Day Dinner family activity. This event is appropriate for family members of all ages. Light refreshments provided.
Please register here to watch the Memorial Day Ceremony together on May 12, 1:15-3pm at Boston Workers Circle, 6 Webster Street, Brookline. On Wednesday, May 15, 1pm there will also be a live streamed Nakba Remembrance.
