Join the Shule (Jewish Cultural Sunday School) 5th graders in their annual labor solidarity action. This year, the fifth grade students are marching to support the largely immigrant employees of Le Meridien Hotel. The Hotel’s owner has cut back on staffing at the Hotel. In 2011, the owner settled or was held liable on 32 wage and hour administrative complaints at another of its hotels, and has settled multiple NLRB charges in the last three years alleging, among other things, that it threatened employees with losing their employment if they continued to participate in union activity.

In March 2012, over 70% of the workers at HEI’s Le Meridien Cambridge asked for a fair process to decide on unionization. Management refused the workers’ demands. In October, workers decided to publicly call for a boycott of their own hotel and are asking visitors to honor their request by not patronizing the Le Meridien, Cambridge until they secure the respect and voice they deserve.
