SUMMARY:IPC Meeting: Beyond The Red Line: Grappling with Jewish Identity & Justice for Palestine
DESCRIPTION:Beyond the Red Line: Grappling with Jewish Identity and Justice for Palestine \nJewish identity in the United States has increasingly become conflated with unwavering support of\, allegiance to\, and belief in the State of Israel. How then\, when we have a strong critique of Israel’s actions (especially in the past few months) or perhaps even of its foundation as a religious or ethnonational state\, can we connect meaningfully with our Jewish heritage and find a home in the larger Jewish community? And what can we do when we are pressured to stay within a red line* that may violate our values\, or risk expulsion from the larger community?  \nCome learn about three progressive Jewish communities who have dealt with this challenge\, and whose Jewish identity and understanding of justice for Palestine are neither defined nor constrained by the Jewish establishment’s positions on Israel. \nTuesday\, December 12 – 7:00 – 8:30 PM \nZoom registration link: https://bit.ly/IPCRedlining  \nRabbi Brant Rosen – Tzedek Chicago\, IL \nTalie Lewis – Co-chair of Kavod Israel/Palestine Task Force\, Boston MA \nRabbi Rebecca Zimmerman-Hornstein – Executive Director\, Boston Workers Circle\, Boston\, MA \n*The red line\, or “to cross the red line\,” is a phrase used worldwide to mean a figurative point of no return or line in the sand.
