SUMMARY:Call to Repair: Justice\, Healing and Reparations in Massachusetts
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, December 3\, 2-4 PM\, The Reparations Interfaith Coalition will host Call to Repair: Justice\, Healing and Reparations in Massachusetts. This event is a virtual Interfaith Reparations Gathering bringing together organizations\, communities and congregations across Massachusetts to learn and discuss how the reparations movement is progressing locally and how we can move it forward. \nAt this event\, national and local Black leaders in the reparations movement will speak to our shared sense that reparations are not a transaction but rather a spiritual and ethical practice. This event is open to all those interested in building their understanding of and work towards reparations. This is the first event among more to come from the Reparations Interfaith Coalition\, a new and currently a predominantly white group of faith and ethically based communities dedicated to moving reparations forward in MA. \nWe hope to leave you with action ideas for education\, advocacy\, and ways to make material reparations. This event is part of a national Sacred Reparative Season launched by the Grassroots Reparations Campaign. \nRegister Here \nCo-sponsored by:  \n\n\n\nEpiscopal City Mission\, Reparations Community of Practice\, First Church Cambridge\, Jewish Community of Amherst\, Congregation Dorshei Tzedek\, Western MA Reparations Collective\, First Parish UU Arlington

SUMMARY:Advanced
DESCRIPTION:Celia Dropkin (1887-1956) is a dynamic writer whose work is exciting\, intense and confronting. Best known for her fierce and intimate poetry\, Dropkin brings the same bold\, unflinching voice to her short stories. Dropkin’s stories take the reader deep under the skins of sharply drawn characters\, casting a critical gaze on the settings and social circumstances that they encounter. In this course\, we will read a selection of Dropkin’s short stories in the original Yiddish\, and will discuss the themes\, characters\, contexts and stylistics of these works. \nRegister Here.
