SUMMARY:Intermediate Yiddish: Virtual
DESCRIPTION:Build confidence in your Yiddish – reading\, speaking\, and listening\, in a supportive and welcoming classroom of intermediate Yiddish students. We’ll focus on building reading fluency\, comprehension strategies\, dictionary skills\, and making meaning from texts while enjoying selections from the canon of Yiddish literature. In this class\, you will find abundant opportunities to stretch and grow your Yiddish. We’ll read slowly\, translate continuously\, and look up every unfamiliar word as we read (in Yiddish) and discuss (in English and Yiddish) literature together. This semester\, we’ll continue reading the memoirs of 19th-century feminist icon Puah Rakovsky\, whose spellbinding tell-all memoir describes her experiences of arranged marriage\, teen motherhood\, rejecting her religious upbringing\, divorcing her parents’ son-in-law\, starting a career\, and becoming one of the world’s first women’s rights activists. \nLearn more and register here.

SUMMARY:Counting the Omer Playwriting Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Who: Writers of all kinds! No playwriting experience necessary. \nWhat:  As we count the days from Pesach to Shavuot\, we invite members of our creative Jewish community to attend a series of low-stakes\, reflective playwriting workshops. Each week\, we will engage with text as a group\, then each write a two-page play based on the corresponding sefirot. These plays can connect to each other\, or each can exist in its own little world — the journey is ours to discover! \nWe hope to share some of these plays with our community on Shavuot – details TBA!  \n When: Tuesday nights\, April 14th – May 19th\, 7-8:30pm \n    Where: Hybrid – Boston Workers Circle (6 Webster Street in Brookline) and Zoom \n    How: Register here. \n    Please bring: Your writing implements of choice\, maybe some yummy snacks (hot tea provided!) \n    With support from Nehar Shalom members and the BWC’s Graggernicks
