SUMMARY:Klezmer Workshop and Jam: A Taste of Yiddish Class
DESCRIPTION:Do you want to learn the foundations of klezmer music? Do you love to play klezmer music and want to help grow the local community of klezmorim? Join the Boston Workers Circle’s monthly drop-in klezmer jam! We will develop and play a shared repertoire. Let’s make music together whether you’re playing (or learning) the melody\, the secund (accompaniment)\, or contributing to the rhythm section. We’ll approach the music by play the music by ear\, a traditional form of learning klezmer. Recordings and sheet music will be available to support new and returning participants’ learning; reading music is not required. \nLevel: This is a workshop and jam and is ideal for musicians who are proficient with their instruments and want to learn or develop their klezmer repertoire\, technique\, and style. We will be meeting once a month and all types of instrumentalists are welcome. The BWC monthly workshop and jam is designed to be an inclusive and welcoming community especially for new participants as we work to create an environment where everyone is supported and empowered to participate. \nMaterial: Your instrument; something to take notes with; water bottle \nCost: You can pay the suggested sliding scale donation at the door via credit card or cash. However\, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.  \nOur workshop + jam has a suggested donation on a sliding scale of $18-$36.  \nOur jam ONLY suggested donation is  on a sliding scale of $10-$20.  \nRegister here.
