SUMMARY:Anti-Racism Study Group
DESCRIPTION:The BWC Anti-racism Study Group meets for 90 minutes every month and currently has a schedule of the third Monday of each month at 7:15 \nThe focus is on reading books\, and learning through reading and discussion. The booklist is divided into three\, somewhat overlapping sections: History\, Black Experience and Working on White supremacy\, White privilege\, and ourselves; Reparations\, activism. \nWe would love to have more people joining us! SUMMARY:Honik af der tsung : Beginners' Yiddish Language Class
DESCRIPTION:When children of the shtetl began their study of Jewish text\, the teacher would put honey on the page to show them the sweetness of Jewish learning.  Likewise\, this class will explore the fun and vibrancy of Yiddish language and culture. It will introduce students to the fundamentals of Yiddish conversation\, reading\, and grammar through highly-interactive games\, songs\, activities\, and short texts.  \nJoin BWC Yiddish teacher\, Sarah Biskowitz\, for an In-Person Beginners Class through our partners at Lehrhaus.  Participants are expected to be completely new to Yiddish but already able to recognize and know the sounds of Hebrew letters. If you do not have basic knowledge of the Hebrew alef-bet\, please learn the Yiddish alef-beys here before the class. We will be using materials from In eynem: The New Yiddish Textbook. You will not be required to purchase the textbook\, but it may be helpful to purchase the PDF. \nParticipants are expected to attend all 6 sessions. Dates: Mondays 7:30-8:45 PM on 3/3\, 3/10\, 3/17\, 3/24\, 3/31\, and 4/7. \nLearn more and register here.
