DESCRIPTION:Teens Acting for Social Change (TASC) is back! Through our year-long TASC program\, teens ages 13-18 will build community with each other\, grow as social justice organizers and activists\, engage in the broader Boston social justice community\, and deepen their understanding of the connections between being Jewish and acting for social change. \nThis year TASC will meet for 16 sessions between September-May on Sundays in conjunction with Shule. Final calendar to follow! \nTeens Acting for Social Change (TASC) is a group of teens making a difference in our world. TASCers build community\, learn about social justice issues\, and take action. \nTeens run the group with the assistance of an adult coordinator. This course introduces students to the fundamentals of Yiddish conversation\, reading\, and grammar through highly-interactive games\, songs\, activities\, and short texts. Students who don’t yet know the Hebrew/Yiddish alphabet will be asked to join the class a half hour early for the first several sessions. \nLevel: Students new to Yiddish\, or those who know a few basics but want a structured start to learning anew. Also recommended for Duolingo learners looking for a structured introduction to grammar\, conversation\, and culture. \nInstructor: Sasha Berenstein \nMaterials: In eynem: The New Yiddish Textbook\, Vol I. Students can purchase this textbook through The Yiddish Book Center (print or digital/PDF is fine)\, and have it accessible for use during class sessions. \nNote: 4:00-4:30pm is for aleph beys.
