A fun, meaningful Rosh Hashanah observance for parents and children - with stories, songs, and hands-on activities. For children 8 and under, accompanied by a parent.

Families are also welcome to attend the morning Rosh Hashanah Observance at 10am, and the potluck lunch at noon.

A Philosopher’s Take on Jewish History — For Teenagers

Earlier this year, Boston Workmen's Circle published The Veterans of History: A Young Person’s History of the Jews, by member and former Shule director Mitchell Silver. In an op-ed piece for The Times of Israel, reposted here, past-President Mike Felsen shares what he learned in conversation with Silver about what led the philosopher to write this three-hundred-plus page teenager’s guide to the Jewish story.

The evening will start at 6:30 pm with time to settle in and shmooze. A ritual will start at 7 pm followed by a potluck dinner at about 7:45 pm. Come for the ceremony or the potluck dinner or both.

If you plan to stay for dinner, please bring a dish to share and whatever you would like to drink. No time to cook? Many of us bring takeout! We’ll provide the wine, juice, and challah.

2014 Zayin Class Presentations

Congratulations to our Zayin (7th grade) class on the presentation of their Bar/Bat Mitzvah projects!


Each year, we celebrate Sukes in the Sunday School (Shule) with sukkah-building and decorating, a sukes spieltag (fun day) and other childrens' activities, and a potluck lunch.

This year, we have a member-led, virtual "A Bisl" workshop for Sukkes:

Shule (Jewish Cultural Sunday School)

Runkle School, 50 Druce St., Brookline

Today is the Shule/Family Purim Carnival!

All classes will meet at the Runkle School at 10:30 (note the earlier time for lower grades). Upper graders go to their usual classes, Giml (3rd grade) students report directly to the cafeteria to rehearse the Shpil. All other grades go with parents to the gym for activities until the Party/Carnival at 11am.

Parents can take their potluck dishes directly to the cafeteria.
