Circle Book Group: Ecclesiastes

Online, on Zoom
Our June book is Ecclesiastes.

This is an insightful and puzzling masterpiece from the Hebrew Bible. It’s not a long read. Twelve short chapters. "Scholars disagree about the themes of Ecclesiastes: whether it is positive and life-affirming, or deeply pessimistic; whether it is coherent or incoherent, insightful or confused, orthodox or heterodox; whether the ultimate message of the book is to copy Kohelet, the wise man, or to avoid his errors.” [Wikipedia] There are many translations of the Hebrew Bible. Two which are available for free online are The New Revised Standard Version and The King James Version. A very interesting, and highly respected new version is The Hebrew Bible: A Translation with Commentary by Robert Alter. Print copies will be made available to the Book Group.

Meeting on: June 14 from 10:15 AM until 12:15 pm. This is an open group that welcomes all readers interested in expanding their understanding of the wide variety of Jewish experiences throughout history and across the world.
