Staff Updates and A Personal Goodbye

by Madeleine Jackman
Dear Boston Workers Circle community,
I want to share some bittersweet news with you. I will be leaving my staff role at BWC on April 15 to start my next chapter—including my wedding and law school.
I’ve been continually inspired by our community’s resiliency, creativity, determination, and care. Our model of justice work sustained by cultural celebration and deep community connection is something that I will always carry with me.
It’s been an honor to represent your work through design, videos, and articles (and thank you to everyone who has been understanding if I’ve had to mute you during a Zoom event!).
BWC has a lot of big and exciting staff transitions coming up:
  • Our new Executive Director, Rebecca Hornstein, is joining us on April 11.
  • Bethany Basile, our incredible Deputy Director, will be on maternity leave this May through September. (Mazel tov, Beth! We’re eager to welcome our next baby BWC member.)
  • Our building is soon reopening to small, hybrid meetings with ten people or less.
  • We are moving along quickly in our Social Justice & Cultural Organizer search and hope to have good news to share with you soon.

  • We are just starting our search for our next Communications Manager. Please share this job post widely with your networks. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions! I’d love to talk about the role and all of the energizing, creative potential of this position.
In the meantime, our community programming continues to be as robust as ever (just look at March’s event line-up below). The last event I’ll be supporting as staff is this year’s virtual Community Passover Seder on Saturday, April 9 at 4:30PM. I hope to see you there!
In community,
Madeleine Jackman
Director of Communications & Community Engagement
