Announcing our new Executive Director!

After an extensive search led by the Boston Workers Circle Search Committee and the Board, we are very excited and proud to announce our new Executive Director, Rebecca Hornstein. Along with her collaborative and engaging leadership, Rebecca is bringing extensive organizing and community care experience, and a deeply rooted passion for secular and progressive Judaism.

For the last decade and a half, Rebecca’s work has been dedicated to the struggle for racial and economic justice and to building solidarity between the multiracial Jewish community and all oppressed people.

She has demonstrated a powerful commitment to racial justice and fighting antisemitism around the country through her work with Bend the Arc and Jews Against White Nationalism. She has thought deeply about the challenges in Israel and Palestine through her work with IfNotNow, and has organized with Never Again Action and the North Shore Labor Council. Her development and fundraising skills have been honed at the Essex County Community Organization. Rebecca’s rabbinical training has prepared her to deeply care for and guide our robust intergenerational community.

“I am so energized and inspired by the Boston Workers Circle’s deep history of Jewish organizing, warm community, and fierce commitment to justice. I am endlessly grateful for the opportunity to co-create BWC’s next chapter alongside all of you,” shares Rebecca.

In total, Rebecca was interviewed by more than 20 community members, including the BWC Board and staff. We are impressed by Rebecca’s extensive experience, her connection to our history, and her vision for BWC’s future. We are confident that Rebecca will successfully shepherd our vibrant community as we look ahead to the future and the return to in-person ritual, organizing, and community programming.

Rebecca will start officially at Boston Workers Circle on April 11, and is looking forward to getting to know our community and to get to know you more in the months to come. Before then, you are invited to a community-wide Zoom Meet & Greet with Rebecca on Sunday, March 13 at 7:00 PM (ET).

We cannot thank our Interim Executive Director, Jonathan Rosenthal, enough for his support and work during this transition. And thank you for your continued support of Boston Workers Circle. We are so grateful to have you as a part of our powerful and caring community, and we are excited to welcome Rebecca into this leadership role.
