Public Conversations Project (PCP)

Making Room for Different Voices about Israel and Palestine, a Public Conversations Project at the Workmen’s Circle.

You are invited to be part of an innovative, hopeful, and powerful initiative on Israel/Palestine.  All it takes is a conversation.  Like most Jewish communities, our differences on the future of Israel and Palestine can sometimes be painful and difficult to navigate.  PCP, best known for its dialogue groups on abortion, has developed a national model for taking on issues that make it hard for people of good will to listen to, understand and respect each other.  Most recently PCP has developed an Israel/Palestine dialogue project.  The goal is to make room for our many Jewish voices, helping us to navigate our differences, as well as clarify our own values and beliefs, as we continue to work together as a community.  Workmen’s Circle has made a major commitment to this effort, holding a pilot conversation group last year and providing professional training to six member-facilitators.
Space is limited!  Approximately 24 people will have the opportunity to participate in three conversation groups, each thoughtfully assembled to represent the diversity of our community.  Each group will meet for one three-hour conversation, led by a trained facilitator. All personal narratives, all views, all questions welcome around the table. Let us know you’re interested! We are in the process of forming conversation groups. Sign up now by contacting Leah Madsen (leah@circleboston.org).

And related to issues in speaking about the Middle East, please read Steve Ostrow's moving secular dvar from this year's Rosh Hashanah observance.
