YP@BWC: Why The Jews Left Boston - A Bicycle Tour

Woodrow Avenue and Ashton Street, Dorchester

A Young People at BWC event!

We've heard about the Boston neighborhoods our parents and their friends lived in that used to be Jewish- "this corner store used to be a kosher deli, this church once was a synagogue." what happened to those neighborhoods? Why did the Jews leave?  What can we learn about the story of their departure in context of the current rapid gentrification of Boston?

Led by Lewis Finfer, Director of Massachusetts Communities Action Network (MCAN), we'll learn about block busting, red lining and the role racism played in Jewish white flight as we bike our way around old stomping grounds.

The tour is free of cost, but tzedakah to MCAN is welcome.
