Lomir Tantsn/Let's Dance: Introduction to Yiddish Folk Dance
Thurs. evenings, 7:00-9:00pm //  Nov. 7 - Dec. 12 (5 sessions) @ BWC

Co-created with internationally-acclaimed Yiddish dance teacher, Avia Moore, this mini-series will teach us the basics of Yiddish folk dance. As beautiful as they are fun, these are dances that everyone can enjoy together. They are a living tradition that balance individual expression and community spirit. From the simple freylekh, which means joyful, to the broyges tantz, a traditional wedding dance of “anger and reconciliation” between new mother-in-laws, we’ll learn about the cultural and historical context of these dances and get to experience them in our bodies. Class will culminate in our annual khanike celebration, with a dance party on Dec. 15th. This class is open to anyone interested, no matter your dancing experience or ability.
