Welcome to Our New Executive Director!

Dear Community Members,

We are thrilled to announce that Boston Workmen’s Circle has hired our new Executive Director: Jen Kiok. After a thorough search process with candidate interviews, two community meetings, and a final Board interview and vote, Jen was selected. She will be  at BWC full time starting February 25th, 2015. So much incredible work has gone into building the vibrant secular, Jewish community that we are today. And with a new Executive Director in place, we are ready to take the next step into the future.

Here’s a little bit about Jen so you can start getting to know her:

Jen Kiok is a life long activist with a deep commitment to justice. For the past 15 years she has been working as a community based educator, using education as a tool for social change.  She identifies as a secular Jew and a spiritual Jew who feels a deep sense of connection with her ancestors. She believes that we have a collective responsibility to work in solidarity with people whose identity mirrors the identity of our ancestors and envisions a Workmen's Circle community in which we work hard to take care of each other and the world.

She holds a Master’s degree in education from Harvard and served as the Executive Director of a grassroots community arts center where she honed her skills in organizational leadership, community building and fundraising. Jen has extensive experience as a supervisor, working collaboratively with co-workers to build a strong staff team. Jen is also a shule parent of Rose (Alef class) and Jonah (circle playtime).

Thanks to all the members of our community for your input into the job description, and the community meetings that gave the Search Committee and the Board invaluable information for what to look for in a new Executive Director. And thanks to all the members of the Search Committee for all of your hard work. We also want to thank Ann Silverman, our Interim Executive Director for a job well done holding our community together during this transitional time.

With gratitude and excitement for the future,

Rosa Blumenfeld, President
